SKAL International Pittsburgh experienced the Rico’s tradition with fine food and wine, on Tuesday, February 21st. Rico’s Restaurant opened in 1979 in Ross Township as a family-owned and -operated restaurant. It has since established itself as a Pittsburgh staple. The relationships that Rico’s has built over the past 35 years between customers, servers, chefs, purveyors, and wineries bridge their combined Italian and Pittsburgh heritage. SKAL International Pittsburgh is proud to be a part of their history.
Rico Lorenzini was born in Ponte Buggianese, Tuscany in 1938. At the age of 13, he began training in restaurants and resorts throughout Northern Italy. Immigrating to Pittsburgh at 19 years old, this training landed him a job shortly after his arrival. After working at a Pittsburgh restaurant for nearly two decades, Rico opened his own restaurant as Head Chef and Owner in 1979. Ownership has since transferred to his son, David, as Rico has transitioned into the kitchen. His passion and training are exemplified on the menu as he works closely with Chef Dennis DeLuca. The menu continues to feature daily filleted veal, fish, and beef as well as homemade desserts and sauces.
Typically opened, Monday – Saturday, Rico’s has a special opening Sunday, May 14th in celebration of Mother’s Day. Bring mom in and enjoy Angel Hair Pasta – a Rico’s Signature. Call 412.931.1989 to book your reservation or click here for more information.
